Safer Spaces

We actively strive to promote inclusivity, equity, and respect; and those values extend to the spaces in which our community gathers. These principles of respect and equity relate to race, age, color, disability, faith, religion, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, sex, sexual orientation, social class, economic class, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, and all other identities represented in our organization.

We must all work together to create an environment that is safe, comfortable, and welcoming for all individuals. By attending a Life-Sized Bloomington event or using Life-Sized Bloomington online forums, participants agree to abide by the following guidelines:

  • Inappropriate behavior that is prohibited may include—but is not limited to—sexual harassment or behavior that is racist, sizeist, sexist, transphobic, queerphobic, ableist, xenophobic, ageist, and homophobic. Inappropriate behavior also includes an unwillingness to listen to and learn from others’ experiences.
  • Respect is given to the physical and emotional boundaries of all attendees. You are responsible for your own actions and should be aware that your actions have an effect on others, despite what your intentions may be. Listen and change your behavior if someone tells you that you are making them uncomfortable.
  • If you feel that you have been subjected to inappropriate behavior or discrimination, you should report the incident to lifesizedbloomington@gmail.com . Someone else may also report on your behalf. There will be no retaliation against the person who reports the behavior.
  • If someone questions your behavior, a Life-Sized Bloomington organizer will speak with you. You may be given a verbal warning and you may be asked to leave the event. If inappropriate behavior continues and/or is reported again, you may be prohibited from attending future Life-Sized Bloomington events.
